There is no "voyage/debian kernel" problem.
I have downloaded the kernel from kernel.org applied the following patches

(modified new reboot file and new hook)
wd1100 patch

Wireless v18 patch

IMQ patch
http://www.linuximq.net/
and compiled with debian sarge distro.
I have no 2.6.11 debian kernel found an debian.org. What do you mean 
with debian stock 2.6.11 kernel?

What I will try is to compile again kernel without hook.
