I am trying to add a USB serial port adapter to my soekries net4511 . I
have a pcmcia usb card. It works fine, other USB devices run on it
fine. I plugged in a USB serial port adapter. When I plug it in,
nothing shows up in var/log/messages and the usbserial driver does not
load. If I do modprobe usbserial, I get this in var/log/messages

Dec 4 01:01:38 voyage kernel: drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB
Serial support registered for Generic
Dec 4 01:01:38 voyage kernel: usbcore: registered new driver
usbserial_generic
Dec 4 01:01:38 voyage kernel: usbcore: registered new driver usbserial
Dec 4 01:01:38 voyage kernel: drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB
Serial Driver core v2.0
root at voyage:/var/log#

If I try to use /dev/ttyUSB0 I get:
ar-2: /dev/ttyUSB0: No such device

Any ideas on how to get the adapter recognized? I have done a lot of
updates to my version of voyage, so it is very possible I broke
something, but any ideas on where to look? This adapter works fine on
my laptop under Fedora Core 3.

thanks
chad
