- Log on as root
- Execute the command "remountrw"
- Execute "apt-get update" to update the list of available packages
- Execute "apt-get install vim" (go to http://packages.debian.org/ to
search for the correct package name if vim doesn't suit you), additional
dependencies may be selected automatically, so be sure to have enough
space on your media!
- Execute "remountro" when you're done editing

I think Voyage Linux defaults to Debian's mirror in Hong Kong; to
replace it with a mirror closer to you, locate an alternative in
http://www.debian.org/mirror/list and add it to /etc/apt/sources.list as
root (don't remove the Voyage Linux or the Debian security
repositories).

If you want to upgrade any packages in "sarge" with security updates,
also run "apt-get upgrade" as root before remounting as read-only.

Generally you should run "apt-get update ; apt-get upgrade" at regular
intervals in order to get security updates in a timely fashion. To be
automatically notified of Debian security updates subscribe to the
mailing list debian-security-announce (see
http://lists.debian.org/debian-security-announce/ ).
