Hello
Don't know if you know the following fact. I had solved it about almost
2 years ago
and has searched again the same pitfall today ...
If you have only dns reachable over wifi i.e. wifi client for example,
do not load
ath_pci module in /etc/modules i.e. before syslog is stared!!
If you do you will have for every dns entry a dns timeout (10 seconds) and
for every search domain too!
So I you have 2 dns entries and 2 search domains you will have 40 sec
wast of boottime
which syslog will hang because it cannot reach dns but in fact I think
it is an arp problem
not shure.
This is because you have an interface which is not up but is in the
"network" list so
a ping to the namserver hangs instead of returning "not reachable".
Thought someone could have the same problem...
BTW: This is on sarge i.e. voyage-0.1, don't know if it's the same on newer
version but I think it's the same problem ...
Greetings
Beat
