[Voyage-linux] Engenius EMP 8602 troubles

I have an Engenius EMP 8602 a/b/g mini-pci card I am trying to get
working with voyage-0.2.  I have both a soekris 4521 and a wrap 1e. I
cannot get this card to work with either. The soekris board recognizes
it , but it immediately reboots upon brining the ath interface up
(ipconfig ath0 up). The wrap board doesn't even recognize the card.  If
anybody has gotten this card working with voyage, I would like to know.
Also, if  anybody can tell me how to compile the updated madwifi driver
(or how to get ap-get the latest driver) onto voyage, please let me know.
