[Voyage-linux] IP Addresses from Same Network On Different Interfaces

Hi All,
I have been trying to assign ip addresses with
iproute. eg: 
ip addr add 192.168.0.1/24 brd + dev eth0

It works. However I am able to assign another address
in the same network to a different interface.
eg:
ip addr add 192.168.0.2/24 brd + dev ath0

I am using routing, no bridging. Same thing occured on
my ubuntu desktop.

Has this come up anywhere? Is it an ubuntu issue or
iproute2?

Any help will be most welcome
