Thanks for the tip. I figured that I would have to recompile the kernel. :-(

Hi Joe,
to get vfat working you will need to recompile the kernel. I have a USB hard
disk working in a Wrap with the following modules (from the last voyage
kernel (0.2pre2)):
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SD=y
#
# DOS/FAT/NT Filesystems
#
CONFIG_FAT_FS=m
CONFIG_MSDOS_FS=m
CONFIG_VFAT_FS=m
CONFIG_FAT_DEFAULT_CODEPAGE=437
CONFIG_FAT_DEFAULT_IOCHARSET="iso8859-1"
#
# Native Language Support
#
CONFIG_NLS=m
CONFIG_NLS_DEFAULT="iso8859-1"
CONFIG_NLS_CODEPAGE_437=m
CONFIG_NLS_ISO8859_1=m
regards

Hi,
Okay, some newbie questions here -- sorry in advance. I just got my first
Soekris net4801 and I successfully installed Voyage Linux on it. When I
plugged in a USB flash drive into the net4801's USB port, I was pleased to
see that Voyage detected it. However, when I tried to mount it with fs type
"vfat", I got the following error message: unknown filesystem type 'vfat'.
I suspect this has something to do with voyage's kernel? Anyway, how can I
get vfat to work? Do I have to recompile the voyage kernel with a modified
kernel configuration?
