[Voyage-linux] Big problem: Madwifi/Hal restriction of sensitivity (apart from limiting output power)

Hello
Very bad news (or good news depends of the view).
The assoiciation limitation of about -74dbm is really a madwifi or hal
restriction.
(one more restriction apart from the output power ...)
I have done tests with mikrotik and there you can associate with -92dbm.
YES, it's not a joke. With mikrotik you get the specs of the SR5 card.
You get 24M at -84dbm and about 13Mbps throughput
at 6dbm at -92dbm and about 2Mbps throughput.
I'm not selling nor using mikrotik but I think again it's a very sad story.
I get with madwifi at -73dbm the throughput of 2Mbps and cannot associate
if signal is lower than -75dbm. So you get 18dbm more sensity with mikrotik.
Every 6dbm dobles the distance so we go 6 times farther ...
In my case:
Instead of 4.4km I go to 30 km ...
Ok there is the output limit but can anybody tell me WHY there is the
receiver sens limit ??
Or do I have missed something??
Any ideas what we can do apart from buying a atheros licence and develop an
own driver
and release it for 1US$ ???
