That would be fun :-) There are two things that I already checked out, 
first I searched for live on the serial port; nothing and second I had 
configured an ip on eth0 and I still couldn't ping it after 5 minutes...

I found something else, my CF of 512MB is recognized by the bios with 
CHS (Cylinders-Heads-Sectors) 1007-16-63 and a "fresh" CF card with 
cfdisk in voyage is prompted with the same values. But after the format 
and the voyage.update commands cfdisk prompts CHS 1023-16-63. Maybe this 
is the reason why grub hangs?
