[Voyage-linux] Understanding Voyage Customization Framework

Hi all,

First my honest thank you to this project named Voyage. I work for EHAS,
a Foundation-NGO that tries to improve the healthcare assistance in
isolated rural areas in developing countries. We mainly do that thanks
to the use of wireless telecommunications solutions. Currently we have
several networks developed through Peru, Colombia and Cuba. The last
one, developed in the jungle located at the border between Peru and
Ecuador, is a Wi-Fi network with Voyage software running on it. This
software solution has come to be a very stable one, and for that we are
very happy with the project!

The issue I would like to discuss here is: due to reasons of
maintainance we would like to build a customized version of Voyage. For
that we would like to follow the procedure of voyage-custom, so our
modifications and addons are maintained in sync with mainstream
developments.

I have started to dive in this stuff and I have to say I am a bit lost
in the steps to follow. I have read the information shown in the Wiki
and some mails posted in this list. Here [1] for example Punky said that
voyage-current is built by the customization framework. As suggested in
the same thread I downloaded voyage-custom from [2]. But what is the
next step to build voyage-current from scratch? Where can I get the
voyage-current structure like the one shown here[3] in order to that?

As I have seen similar questions in this mailing list I would like to
contribute to a good documentation about this issue. Once I understand
fully how this works I will update the Voyage wiki.

Best regards:

Pabl
