Hi Punky:

I am attaching the inittab on livecd, and both minicom settings I used on
livecd and ubuntu are: /dev/ttyS0, 19200 N81, and no hardware flow control.

I noticed the inittab has 38400 for tty1-6, and 9600 for ttyS0, are these
causing trouble?

I also did what you suggested: using qemu to start livecd and using minicom
on ubuntu to connect soekris, but didn't work out, seems to have same
problem as before.

Should I try manual PXE boot guide:
http://wiki.voyage.hk/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=pxe_voyage, it looks quite a long
process though (starting from compiling kernels).

For those wanting to set up qemu with bridging mode but not sure how to,
here is a list of what I did:

=====Install Voyage Linux on net4826=====
  - I have ubuntu 6.06 and kernel 2.6.15-27-386 on host system with
192.168.1.0 network
  - mkdir ~/qemu; cd ~/qemu
  - wget http://www.voyage.hk/download/ISO/voyage-current.iso
  - sudo apt-get linux-headers-2.6.15-27-386 bridge-utils minicom
kernel-package
  - cd /usr/src; sudo ln -s linux-headers-2.6.15-27-386 linux
  - cd ~/qemu; wget http://www.qemu.org/kqemu-1.3.0pre9.tar.gz
  - tar zxvf kqemu-1.3.0pre9.tar.gz; cd kqemu-1.3.0pre9; configure; make;
sudo make install
  - follow http://compsoc.dur.ac.uk/~djw/qemu.html
<http://compsoc.dur.ac.uk/%7Edjw/qemu.html>, ubuntu already has tun/tap
configured
  - I didn't bother with sudo setup
  - in my case, I need to first run "sudo umount /dev/shm; sudo mount -t
tmpfs -o size=272m none /dev/shm"
  - for running qemu, replace the script "-hda win2k.img -boot c" with
"-cdrom voyage-current.iso -boot d"
  - now run the qemu script, login with root/voyage into voyage VM, the IP
should be 192.168.1.X
  - in voyage, /etc/init.d/voyage-pxe start 19200, you should get IP
192.168.1.200, and you can ping it from ubuntu
  - start minicom -s, select serial port setup, change serial device to
/dev/ttyS0, Bps/Par/Bits to 19200 8N1, and set no hardware control
  - power up soekris 4826, hit ctrl-p and type boot f0
  - 4826 correctly finds DHCP and TFTP, starts downloading, but then screen
went messy, and frozen immediately after reboot
