Hi,
i've solved this problem a few days ago due to compiling gspca module 
for some webcam).I've looked at my desktop pc and find out that 
/lib/modules/build is just link to actual kernel src:

ls -l|grep build
build -> /usr/src/2.6.23.14-tmb-desktop-1mdv/
So making it solve this problem.
Than i've some other problems about missing 
/usr/src/[kernel_source_name]/scripts/mod/modpost binary. As far as i 
remember, it was resolved by running "make" in the 
/usr/src/[kernel_source_name]/scripts/mod/ directory.
