[Voyage-linux] Were are the modules loaded at boot time like ath_pci in voyage-0.5.2

Hello

Why is ath_pci loaded at startup in voyage-0.5.2 or debian-etch.
I have found it is not started because the file of
/etc/modprobe.d/madwifi
but this file was delete by removing the voyage drivers and installing
my own drivers :-(
Now my question: were are the modules loaded by default.
I want also prevent loading of sound modules etc.
Is there any docu of this?
And last question for today:
Is /etc/modules outdated?
