So far my modded boards have also stayed up. A note on the 12v power
drain. I have an analog ammeter setup to measure current on the POE for
the boards and it shows barely 0.2 amp even with two XR5s on the board.
The analog ammeter of course cannot reflect the instantaneous power draw
that may be occuring on the board during TX periods but it does give a
good estimate of the average current needed from the power supply. I
have many 12v 1A (nominal) power supplies that actually put out close to
18v and hold ~17v when powering an ALIX board.
As for the behavior of the unmodified boards, I would also see them
simply shut down after a few minutes (or less) with high powered cards
inserted.
