Hi David, hi everyone,
have you experienced problems using CF and writing on them?

We are doing the same and, apart from the fact that a CF has its own life limited by a finished number of read/write cycles, we saw that rebooting without foricing a sync on the CF happened that the entire filesystem become corrupted and unbootable.

We are using 0.5 voyage on alix3, but we saw the same on alix 1 and 2 and soekris devices.

Suggested behaviour?

Hi all,
despite the recently mentioned power issues there is another one which is a important one: the compact flash file system integrity.
I am not talking about if it is good or not write on a cf. (Just think I am going to make it ;-) ) I have been taking a look at YAFFS (http://www.yaffs.net) which is said to help the cards not to deteriorated, however the YAFFS project it is a estrange one. It has not a clear way of downloading the files and to make the installation (it is like someway hidden).

have any of you play with it?

On the other hand we are also thinking of using pen drives as rw partitions...

regards.

David.
