You can also consider to use dump so you can do incremental dumps if you 
change in the future.
I save my cf cards remote with dump and mount a cf card with a cf card 
reader and restore the
whole bunch there on.
The only thing to note is that you must install lilo after restoring (at 
least the first time) to boot this backup flash.
Package dump is not voyage  default, so you must install it 
(dump_0.4b41-3_i386.deb from debian server)
For level 0 dump for example do:

dump 0 -u -f - | ssh $ruser@$rhost 'cat > file'

That's it. If you use it and have problems mail to me.
