[Voyage-linux] SSDs, CFs and write endurance

Is there any difference in the underlying physical medium between
a solid state disk and a compact flash card? If not, why is it "bad"
to mount CFs as read-write, when that's how SSDs are used day in
and day out?
I'm seriously considering using the CF on an ALIX board as a
standard read-write disk. I've read many articles and posts that this
is a bad idea, but with the latest CF cards out today, is that still
true?
Here's an article on the subject. Comments?

Thanks.
