Thanks for the thoughts. While noise is possible, the radios are 5.2
and 5.8 bands respectively and 5Ghz is non-overlapping as well so I
wouldn't think the effect would be this dramatic. I've run 2 2.4GHz
cards in a common box and did see some throughput effect but nothing
like I've reported here. The cpu load doesn't go up much though the
ksoftirqd does consume a fair number of cycles. I also wonder whether
the board's design is a factor wrt to the minipci bus, hence the
posting. Another possible explanation is the driver in handling the
interrupts/dma transfers on the bus.
I have a 3 ethernet port ALIX that I will test this on using only the
wired interfaces to rule out/in anything to do with madwifi, hal,
atheros chipset, etc.
