It is possible. Right now I compile my own kernel with msr to do the
flashing, but I'm asking for the msr module to be shipped with the standard
voyage kernel so that I don't have to do this anymore.

I run coreboot (http://coreboot.org) instead of tinybios on my alix'es. But
sometimes one also needs to upgrade to the latest tinybios (to fix the mfgpt
issue). Not having to mess with a dos image to flash the alix is worth a lot.
