Thanks, good point. The fstab entry is disabled anyway for the root fs
though, which I believe is the default, and what's supposed to be root
is just passed per boot parameter, from whence the boot scripts would
take care of everything else.

Admittedly, I didn't look into those too closely though because, for a
flashcard, you wouldn't want to have regular checks anyway. So I just
used to turn them off safely via tunefs, just to be sure there won't be
checks no matter what the boot scripts do.

So I take your statement then as confirmation that checks are
performed when the fstab entry is enabled in the way you said. Good
to know.
