I don't think tsc would be a suitable long-term solution. This: "Clocksource tsc 
unstable (delta = 69343465 ns)" is what dmesg reports.
Someone suggested disabling a  module hence making the system pick pit as source 
(which is the next thing I'll try).

I think the issue is related to to a bug in geode-mfgpt which has been fixed in 
2.6.27.
