Voyage can use any x86 based hardware. I am using mostly ALIX boards.
I am currently experimenting with Intel Atom for those times when I need
more processing power but still a low power utilization and or passive
cooling requirements.

My main use of voyage is on network security, bridging, and routing
devices. The limitation I have is that the ALIX boards do not have
enough CPU and RAM resources for Snort on a lot of my client's networks.
In this case we use older P4 and AMD64s with a couple of Gigs of RAM.

I do not use squeeze, but I have had similar problems with running Snort
on a busy network. The 500 Mhz geode and 128MB or 256MB RAM simply was
not enough.

If I need a database I will create a RW partition on the CF card or I
will use a laptop hard drive (when I use regular computers). Most of
the time if I need a place to write files, I mount a remote share from a
file server via CIFS (samba).
