Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I think you had the right definition of the issue but I couldn't get it working, however I've found a simpler issue anyway now, I simply make my entry in the /etc/fstab file, this is then permanently saved :-)

'/root' is by default symlinked to '/rw/root' and therefor
everything saved in there is just in the ramdisk and will be lost
after reboot.

You need to sync the data to the CF before rebooting. Unfortunatly I
do not know by heart how this is done. I can remember to do
something like '/etc/init.d/voyage-util stop' and by setting the
VOYAGE_SYSTEM_SYNCDIRS to accomplish this.
This was a solution in voyage-0.2 so it might have changed in the
meanwhile.

(But you always can manually copy the /rw to the approrate /ro
folders.)
