Hey Rob,
Yeah someone else suggested the read only option, I changed the permissions on the file to 0444 however it still seems to get changed, any ideas?

Not sure about pump. A workaround may be to make /etc/resolv.conf
read-only or use resolvconf to set the nameservers.
Sorry for so little info. I have yet to move to version 6
