[Voyage-linux] voyage-current boots for me on soekris net4801 as of aug10

I installed to CF from tarball, it works.
maybe earlier ones did too, I was slow to start testing them,
partly cuz changelog never showed anything beyond 0.6.5
I previously tried pxelinux -> memdisk -> voyage-current.iso (see previous
posts)
that failed (at some level)
iso image has live.cfg which does not have serial 0 ....
so I cannot see the boot process happening
As suggested on syslinux-ML, I'll try remastering my own iso after altering
live.cfg,
HPA didnt like adding a 'serial 0 ..' by default (in addition to console),
as it slows down the boot, and because it might confuse devices
which are attached to the serial port.
Is there a way that youre aware of to accommodate my need and the general
case ?
if not, I'll just remaster (eventually) and try it.
In meantime, I tried building a current kernel, but the initramfs built
there incorporates
the udev on my laptop, which is too old to work with current kernels.
It would be handy to have voyage-current-sdk to work with,
I presume it contains udev-158 that voyage-current.tbz has.
FWIW, the linux-voyage-patch on download page applies with a teeny bit of
fuzz,
and iirc built cleanly. Due to my initrd problem, it doesnt boot...
lastly, Im attaching an *untested* patch which modifies
installer to add module options into /etc/modprobe.d/<modname>.conf,
rather than into /etc/modules. It might be better to write all options
into a single file: /etc/modprobe.d/net4801.conf
Testing it means disassembling my soekris, so its a bit more of a hassle
than a pure software test. I'll do so however, once I hear favorable
feedback.
thanks
