I changed the order like in above workaround. The system now goes into 
ro mode ok.
However the problem with asterisk remains. Asterisk finds the files 
asterisk.ctl and asterisk.pid only when the system is running in rw 
mode, not when in ro. Strange, because both files are present, either in 
rw as well in ro mode..
Apparently there is something preventing asterisk from finding both 
files, when voyage is in ro mode?

I tried lsof. Can you provide a hint on what to look for?
