Thanks for your help. The main thing I need is the lirc mceusb driver
listed at the bottom here:
http://www.lirc.org/html/table.html
I think lirc has to be compiled to support the specific modules, when
I issue lircd --driver=help the mceusb driver isn't listed.

Just to be sure I installed a snapshot I downloaded a few minutes ago
and tested.

I guess I need lirc to be updated to include the mceusb driver.
