Hi Johann,
you can't just dump a CD ISO to a CF. There are tools available to
repackage an ISO to a USB flash disk, e.g. "netbootin".
However, it is quite possible that the ISO image is actually an installer
program. You won't be able to install from CF to the same CF.
Even if you find a way to install without CD, it would still give you a
standard linux OS + scan and OCR programs. It won't give you the ability
to run from CF without wearing it out. That is a feature of voyage that
you really need in order to run on Alix with CF. So to make it work
reliably you would have to replicate some features of voyage.
** That's why I think your best plan is to use voyage, and add the couple
of packages that you need to give you scanning and OCR features. **
