I had problems with compiling kernel 6.5 as well. The init ramdisk fs was not being created by the kernel package install. I fixed the issue by using the kernel configuration file included in the /boot directory of a typical 6.5 voyage install, and then manually created the initial ramdisk with the 'mkinitrd' utility, manually installed it on my target platform and updated grub menu file. This was a total hack but I was in a rush. Not good for the future. I think the problem was in versioning and I'm interested in a proper fix.

I was confused as to which kernel config file to use from the voyage repository as there was none marked for the 6.5 source. My issue may have been a version labeling problem since I used the 7.0 voyage kernel config for 6.5 soucre release. (But is was the only 2.6.30 kernel config available.)
