but this look for me as the solution of your initially mentioned
problem. ;-)

Anyway,
I think with all the interfaces available, it should not be a problem to
solder something that cuts the power between PSU and DC-Jack. Something
like low-power version of http://chezphil.org/slugpower/ or
http://www.liisa.info/inhalt_lps.htm
But then I hope Yo do not want WoL as next ;-)
