Without knowing more I cannot offer any meaningful advice.  Is there a
network device?  Can you control it (set link parameters, IP
addresses, and so on)?  Are there any errors in dmesg?

The output of "ip addr" should show you all of your interfaces and
their detected status.  "ip link set eth0 up" will set the device as
up, assuming that you have a solid physical link.  If this works then
I would proceed to add an IP address, then push packets and capture at
the other end with tcpdump or ethereal to see what is going on.

At this point I would need some hint about the actual symptoms before
I could really be of help.
