Hi Punky,

Thanks for your response. I will install Debian in a VM and do some
experiments.

Eric

Hi Eric,

I used another Debian on my network and run the following command. At least
I can see the MPD service is published.

# avahi-browse -ra
....
= eth0 IPv6 Voyage Music Player Music Player
Daemon  local
   hostname = [voyage.local]
   address = [fe80::20d:b9ff:fe15:2fd4]
   port = [6600]
   txt = []
= eth0 IPv4 Voyage Music Player Music Player
Daemon  local
   hostname = [voyage.local]
   address = [192.168.1.110]
   port = [6600]
   txt = []

Hello all,

How to enable avahi (zeroconf) in voyage mpd?

The mpd.conf already has zeroconf configured, but it doesn't work out of the
box. I read that the included debian mpd version (0.16-1) is not compiled
with avahi support: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=560860,
so I upgraded to 0.16.1-2 and also installed avahi-daemon.

The /var/log/mpd/mpd.log and /var/log/syslog both show that avahi is
starting correct and avahi is running showing ps aux, but I don't see any
advertisments on the clients (iphone mpod and windows 7 with bonjour
installed).

Any pointers?

Best regards,

Eric
