Hi Dave,
You need to append :
console=ttyS0,38400n8
to line:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-voyage root=UUID=5bc562fe-8579-4fe0-b1f1-b9fc9a578
in /boot/grub/menu.list
