You can append «quiet» at the end of the linux boot command:

in /boot/grub/menu.lst:

title voyage-linux-10Dec10
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz root=LABEL=ROOT_FS  console=ttyS0,38400n8 nomfgpt
initrd /initrd.img
