OK perhaps not quite correct terminology ;-)   I do keep a complete card
image created using 'dd' that I can use to burn CF cards.  However I also
keep a copy of the root filesystem and copy that to "pre-prepared" cards. 
Slightly quicker and I can change the filesystem if I wish.  I have just
done what works for me rather than looked into the best way to do it -
haven't produced enough cards to worry too much about efficiency.

Don't know of standard scripts and I don't have access to mine at the
moment.
