There is discussion on ifplugd. I use it for handing interface state
changes and start/stop dhclient. I don't use "auto ifname" in interfaces
file, managed by ifplugd.
Maybe there are better ways managing dhclient in a more dynamic
network, where cables are connected / disconnected. I just tested
with disabled ifplugd and "auto eth1". dhclient was not notified
on interface state change. Not acceptable for me.
If there is a replacement for ifplugd, I am fine. I havn't any reason to
search, ifplugd never let me down (yet).
