[Voyage-linux] Problem mounting USB HDD [SOLVED]

Hi all – installed ntfs-3g as Gustin suggested – thanks, Gustin –  manually mounted the USB drive and it updated and played. 

 

Maybe ntfs-3g can be included in the build, Punky?

They should install side by side.  ntfs-3g is also only an apt-get away.

ntfs-3g is very different because it uses the ntfs.dll in combination with some wine binaries all wrapped up in FUSE.  File systems that use FUSE are slow.  That is the short short short version that is not 100% accurate in the technical sense but should be close enough for this discussion :)

 

With NTFS-3g you can put your media on NTFS drives as the performance is good enough for media playback (even video).

 

My main display device at home is a Western  Digitial TV-Live+, so since it is running Linux (as is all but the wife's computer) the majority of my USB drives are either ext2 or ext3 depending on whether or not they are flash based or not.  I am also a fan of XFS on my data drives.  

 

I have been playing around with btrfs but it is no where near ready for prime time.
