Hello
I'm trying voyage-0.8 and have still problems with a lot of
compatibility issues with madwifi versus mac80211 drivers.
One simple problem is, that I have not found how I can show the essid of
the interface where hostapd is running.
In managed mode this is still displayed with iwconfig wlanX but if
interface is in master mode iwconfig wlanX does not display the essid.
The only iw config which display some infos like iwconfig if interface
is in master mode is
dev wlan0 survey dump
but there is no essid.
Reading docu of iw and try and error of almost all comands has given no
solution... Did I miss something??
And is distance setting still not supported with current ath5k driver in
voyage-8.0?
If I do a
iw phy0 info
in Supported commands:
the option set distance is not listed.
iw phy0 set distance 20000
does not show an error but how can I display the current distanc setting?
And what is the unit of this command m,km inches??? There is no docu
about that :-(
BTW: One of my card is WLM54AGP23 (168c:001b). Base problem is that
madwifi driver which was really stable over last years
now makes problem on serveral long distance links with the "no xmit buf"
problem and I have not found any solution in the groups
so It seems I have to upgrade to mac80211 drivers :-(
And last but not least. Anyone now using mac80211 drivers in long
distance links?
Greetings and thanks for any hints
