If you are not doing trans-coding you should have more than enough resources.
For comparison - I sell a 500mhz Geode based system (512mb ram) which
can handle well into 15+ concurrent ulaw calls no problem. As well as
provide voicemail, conf bridge, etc. You can not load up on bridges as
the timing tends to get a little funny, however I have deployed well
over 50 of these types of systems with no issue.
The issue at hand in my opinion is that the AsteriskNOW gui is just
broken in some cases and under developed..
