Nice distillation - I adapted the original SDK scripts as well but haven't carven them down so nicely as you have yet.
I see you also discovered that /bin/sh is a bad interpreter to use for echoing SFDISKCMD to stdin of sfdisk. The /bin/sh symlink to bash in format-cf.sh worked for me in 0.6.5 but symlink to dash failed (something to do with quoting) in 0.7.5, so need to force the script's interpreter to bash all the time. I found this out the hard way ...

I 've finally had some time to work on this. I've updated the script with some new improvements.
Just a comment: I use hd5 just to make sure that I don't accidentally have this drive in my computer. In the event of someone having up to 5 hd* devices that would need to be changed.
