This thread has generated some very useful information for me and based on
the responses I think I am just going to leave my voltage setting of 15.5v
as is and call it a day.

I guess there is no sense in me getting greedy with the amount of juice it
is running on currently given the fact that it is already a small fraction
of what a normal PC would be asking for to perform the same task.

At this point I think I have all my bases covered in terms of isolating the
HiFi equipment from the computer side since the DAC is Opto isolated on the
USB connection and I have already installed an Ethernet based Opto Isolator
between the ALIX and the rest of my internal LAN. With these two forms of
isolation (USB/Ethernet) and taking into consideration that the ALIX is
running off of a Linear DC power supply I think its safe to say that this
little thing is living on an island fully off the grid.

Again, I appreciate everyone’s help which has allowed me to come to the
conclusion that if it ain't broke don't try and fix it.
