So, Voyage MPD seems to be quite popular with music lovers and
audiophiles the world over. I had another idea that I think would be
equally as popular, if not more, considering there are probably more
small business owner than audiophiles:

Voyage Point of Sale or Cash Register

Fast, lightweight, ncurses based cash register for small business
retail, kiosks, flea markets, etc.Should be able to replicate a decent
small/medium business cash register without needing a database or
other software that would require a back end server.

PLU (price lookup) via programmble keyboard or on screen ncurses keys
activated via touchscreen.
department keys for open pricing
ability to handle VAT and tax included pricing
cash/debit/credit
detailed journal at end of day
Z and X reports
hourly sales


Benefits:

Low cost hardware, e.g., Alix
Low power consumption
All solid state when run on Alix and compact flash
With Ethernet, still have ability to SSH and monitor sales, etc.
Ability to deploy multiple registers at very low cost.
Can be run on any old laptop or netbook without X for portable,
battery powered soution.
