Punky - you're a star! It worked! I reinstalled the daily build using your
line below and the albums all list with the correct artist now. Thank you,
it was a real issue to me. I trust this will now be part of the next
release?

Some of the 'albums' I compiled and listed under one album name still show
up as 15 separate albums with different artists but I know that's not an MPD
issue as some other compilations list correctly so I shall have to
investigate their tagging.

The only remaining issue is the one where songs on a playlist that change
bit or sample rate start distorted but, according to knowledgeable people,
this is an issue with the MPD driver needing tweaking.

Again, thanks for your help with this.

Derek

Hi Derek,

I have built a new libav etc from Debian squeeze-backport and is now in
voyage experimental repository.

Add this to your /etc/apt/sources.list or
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/voyage.list:

deb http://www.voyage.hk/dists/experimental ./

and reinstall mpd. Test and let me know your result.
