[Voyage-linux] Create virtual/dysfunctional volume control

Hello all,

Is it possible to create a virtual volume control that I can control
from MPD but without it actually affecting the data send to my USB dac?
Basically, I want the volume control to be totally dysfunctional except
for remembering its level. I want to write an application that can
listen for changes in the volume level, translate that data, and send it
out through a serial port to my amp.
