local.conf should be fine. If your system starts or not highly depends
if this is your actualy problem at all.

This is what I would do if I had no clue on what my system actually
loaded.
Another possibility would be to run 'lsmod' while the drivers are loaded
and just get the correct one from there. Remember to strip off the
'.ko'.
