Thanks for this hint, based on this I also found the helpful page on
http://backreference.org/2010/07/04/modifying-initrdinitramfs-files/
thus I have unpacked the /initrd.img
then added a file conf/modules containing the line
ide-generic
and then repacked the /initrd.img
Now it works well again and the driver is found during boot.
And this is much less painful than recompiling a kernel package.
