No, I didn't. But the point is, that there are no problems using the
same method with 0.9.2 release.
The problem appears only with current release.

I will try the "--numeric owner" when decompressing the tarball and get
back to you.

I should also add, that the same problem appeared, when I upgraded (with
apt-get) the 0.9.2 release to kernel 3.12.9-voyage.
