Two suggestions.

The 3.14 kernel is pretty old. Can you try this on a newer kernel, for
example on a desktop or laptop running a 4.x kernel? Maybe the latest
Ubuntu or Fedora live CD?

Then, if that doesn't work, try the ALSA user mailing list
alsa-user at lists.sourceforge.net (you have to subscribe)
