As a side note: PC Engines decided to remove the LM77 from the standard
design, as far as I have been told (by them). You can still get the
WRAPs with LM77, but you have to order them explicitly that way.
I'm not sure when exactly that decision was made, probably the non-LM77
boards have not yet reached all channels. However, sooner or later this
also will have to be considered when facing similar problems.
