[Voyage-linux] Optimized Asterisk for geode lx processor

Hello

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to scale asterisk's
transcoding capabilities on an alix board with a geode lx processor by
using its mmx and 3dnow fpu instructions.
With the standard voyage asterisk packages transcoding from g711 to
ilbc or g729 is using 100% cpu time with 3 concurrent calls.

Before I start messing up with cross compiling asterisk, the codecs and
the needed libraries, I wanted to inquire whether someone had already
done something similar and if there is any experience to whether it's
worth the try?
Is there any performance benefit when using packages optimized for the
target cpu architecture compared to the generic voyage packages?

Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts and experience.

Regards

Jean-Pierre
